Delhi has opted for Rishabh Pant as the captain of the franchise in the upcoming seasons after his impressive stint in 2021 while their second and third retentions will be Prithvi Shaw and all-rounder Axar Patel. IPL 2022 Retention: 3 Big Players Who Won’t Be Retained By Delhi Capitals

Iyer faced a shoulder injury prior to the 2021 IPL season in India and he was ruled out of the entire season for at least three months. Rishabh Pant captained the franchise in absence of Iyer and he did taste success which has left Delhi with no choice in continuing with the wicketkeeper as captain. Iyer has opted to move out of the franchise as per reports to be in the lead roles again.
