IPL 2022 is all set to welcome 10 teams instead of 8, as two new franchises have been added to India’s franchise T20 league. As Lucknow and Ahmadabad are set to join the tournament from the next season, a mega auction will take place ahead of the tournament. Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, the current 8 teams can retain 4 players in their squad.

Rajasthan Royals have observed poor performance in the last few seasons. The team, which won the opening edition of IPL 2008, has only won 1 title so far. Under new skipper Sanju Samson, RR finished on the 7th spot in IPL 2021. However, the franchise does have some swashbuckling players in the squad and the franchise might retain them in the next season as well. Here we talk about the best-predicted list of players to be retained by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2022.

Sanju Samson is one player that RR can retain in IPL 2022. The franchise picked him as the skipper in IPL 2021. The wicketkeeper-batsman slammed a century in his debut game itself in the 2021 season.

In 14 matches, the 27-year-old player mustered 484 runs at an amazing average of 40.33, finishing as the top run-getter for RR and 6th highest in the tournament. Samson has given consistent batting performances for the team in the last few seasons and RR might keep him in the squad in next edition as well.

Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler might be another player that RR will retain in IPL 2022. Ben Stokes is also a good choice but the England all-rounder just played 1 match in the last season before injuring himself. He also took a long break from cricket thereafter and did not play any competitive games.

Hence, Jos Buttler is the better option to look out for. In IPL 2021, the England wicketkeeper scored 254 runs in just 7 games at an average of 36.28 and strike rate of 153+. The right-handed batsman also slammed one century to attract the limelight of everyone.

Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer missed IPL 2021 due to an elbow injury and is expected to return only next year. However, the right-arm pacer is one of the dangerous pacers in international cricket.

Archer bowls at a speed of around 150 kph and has the might to trouble batsmen with his pace attack and bouncers. Hence, Rajasthan Royals will not risk releasing him as other teams can pick him later in the auction.

Chetan Sakariya

For the 4th option, the team might go with Chetan Sakariya. The left-arm pacer made a debut in IPL 2021. Playing 14 games, the 23-year-old youngster picked 14 wickets at an average of 30.42 and economy of 8.19.

He did a great job in the absence of Jofra Archer, picking crucial wickets. The young pacer might emerge as a great investment for the franchise in the future. Moreover, being a left-armer, he will give more depth to RR’s pace attack.
