The Role of 6,7,8 Becomes Important If The Team Loses Wickets At The Top: Shardul Thakur

Thakur has been a revelation as an all-rounder for India in the last couple of years. He has played some vital knocks with the bat in Test cricket as well as in limited-overs cricket. He has done well with the bowl too.

Hence when he went for plenty in the mega auctions earlier this year, it didn’t surprise many. He has already played 2 important knocks for Delhi Capitals down the order. The best part about those two knocks is that both of them came in winning situations.

Delhi Capitals is blessed with all-rounders as they retained Axar Patel, bought back Lalit Yadav and Ripal Patel and invested in Rovman Powell and Mitchell Marsh.

“We have great depth in our batting. The more all-rounders are there, the better it is for any team in T20s. If we lose quick wickets at the top then the role of players batting at 6,7 and 8 becomes important”, Thakur said in a media release by DC.

Delhi Capitals have won 2 games and lost 2 and are currently in the 6th position on the points table but Thakur believes that the team is moving in the right direction.

“Our head coach Ricky Ponting has always told us to play our natural game no matter what the situation is. He backs us so we always try to give our best”, Thakur added.

Thakur has played 25 T20 internationals for India and with a T20 World Cup slated to be held in Australia next year, he would be eying a spot in the world cup team.

Thakur was selected in the Indian team for last year’s T20 World Cup ahead of Axar Patel who was initially part of the 15 but was later moved to the reserves.
