IPL 2022: This Guy Is Evergreen, He's Bowling With Some Wonderful Control - Brett Lee On Umesh Yadav
Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee lavished praise on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer, Umesh Yadav, terming the 34-year-old as an ‘evergreen’ who is doing most of the work for his franchise in the IPL 2022.
So far, Umesh has picked up 10 wickets in the ongoing edition. He has bowled mainly in the powerplay and the death overs and has been constantly providing the breakthroughs for KKR in these tough periods.
“This guy is evergreen. We’ve seen this in this IPL so far, he’s bowling with some wonderful control. He’s got a great swing, shapes the ball both ways, and is getting a little bit of nibble of the seam and he always gets the wicket for KKR,” Lee said in a chat on ‘Brett Lee TV’.
“I reckon there is a fifer just around the corner” – Brett Lee
With the way Umesh is bowling, Lee feels that it won’t be long before Umesh runs through a line-up and picks up a five-wicket haul. He will have the opportunity to do so in KKR’s next game against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Saturday.
“2/20 vs CSK, the opening game of the IPL. He got guys like Gaikwad and Devon Conway. 15 dot balls, I always say if a bowler can bowl 12 dot balls or more, you’re on song. He backed it up with 2/16 against RCB.”
“Rawat and Virat Kohli caught behind 14 dot balls once again and then 4/23 against Punjab, Mayank Agarwal, Livingstone, Harpreet Brar, Rahul Chahar, 13 dot balls another man of the match. Umesh Yadav is on fire and I reckon there is a fifer just around the corner,” Lee added.
