It was the last of the double-headers in IPL 2022 on Sunday as Chennai Super Kings took on Gujarat Titans in the first game at the Wankhede stadium and Lucknow Super Giants played Rajasthan Royals at the Brabourne Stadium.

In the first game, GT won the game comfortably as they are now confirmed a top 2 finish while RR won the game by 24 runs.

CSK vs GT

MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat first. His decision to bat first did not prove to be right as the CSK batters struggled throughout their innings. In what has been a season of big scores CSK batters for the 2nd game in a row failed to score much. They put just 133 runs on the board. CSK couldn’t hit a single boundary in the last 5 overs as they scored just 23 runs and lost 3 wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 53 runs but for that, he took 49 deliveries.

GT chased down the total by 7 wickets remaining as Wriddhiman Saha scored 67 runs to take his side home. The only shining light for CSK in the game was Matheesha Pathirana, Sri Lankan quick making his debut who took two wickets in the game, which included a wicket on the very first ball of his spell as he removed Shubham Gill for just 18 runs.

LSG vs RR

Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to bat first. Jos Buttler got out early this time. But then Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal put innings back on track. Samson lost his wicket in the 9th over and after that RR lost wickets at regular intervals. They were 90 for 2 at the end of 10 overs but in the last 10 overs, they managed just 88 runs. Ravi Bishnoi picked up 2 wickets for 31 runs which changed the momentum in favour of LSG.

LSG didn’t start their reply to the chase as well as they would have liked as Quinton de Kock and Ayush Badoni both got out in the 3rd over itself.

KL Rahul soon followed both of them in the dug-out as LSG finished the powerplay at 34-3. Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda had a 65 run partnership but then a combination catch by Jos Butter and Riyan Parag ended Pandya’s innings. In the end, LSG just lost the plot and lost the game by 24 runs.
