The Tata Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022) action continued on Saturday as it was a doubleheader day in the tournament. In the first match of the day Royal Challengers Bangalore took on Gujarat Titans and in the evening game, Mumbai Indians were up against Rajasthan Royals.

In the first match, GT notched up their 8th win of the season as they beat RCB by 6 wickets in a close contest. While MI got their first win of the season as they beat RR by 5  wickets.

Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first. While batting first RCB put on 170 runs on the board on the back of two half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar. It was Kohli’s first fifty of the season. Some late order hitting by Mahipal Lamror took RCB to 170 which was just about par in an afternoon game.

Gujarat Titans chased down the target in the final over with ease in the end, but their innings saw a couple of hiccups in between as after a relatively good start they lost key wickets at regular intervals. But a brilliant partnership between Rahul Tewatia and David Miller took GT home. Tewatia was awarded the player of the match for his 43 not out of 25 balls.

RCB lost their 3rd game in a row and are now in a tight spot as far as their chances to qualify for the playoffs are concerned.

RR vs MI

Rohit Sharma won the toss on his birthday and chose to bowl first. His bowlers did well and restricted RR to only 158 runs. Jos Buttler was once again the highest scorer for them as he scored 67 runs in the game. The best bowler for MI was Riley Meredith who took 2 wickets for 24 runs. Debutant Kumar Karthikeya also bowled well as he gave away only 19 runs and picked up a wicket in his 4 overs.
