IPL 2022: Updated Points Table, Orange Cap And Purple Cap After Match 8 KKR vs PBKS

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets in match 8 of IPL 2022 on Friday, April 1. Andre Russell scored an unbeaten 70 off 31 balls and added an unbeaten 90-run stand with Sam Billings (24 off 23 balls). KKR came back to winning ways and in the process top the points table at the moment.

KKR were in a spot of bother with 51/4 just after the powerplay. Andre Russell then walked out to bat at number five and took the game head-on. He hit eight sixes and two fours and scored at a strike rate of over 200.

Earlier in the game, Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee took six wickets between themselves to bowl out Punjab for 137. Punjab lost skipper Mayank Agarwal in the very first over. Since then they lost wickets at regular intervals. Bhanuka Rajapaksa (31) and Kagiso Rabada’s efforts (25) were not enough with the bat to take them to a competitive total.

This win has taken KKR to the top of the points table. They suffered a narrow defeat against RCB but has returned to winning ways against Punjab. Courtesy of a net run-rate of 0.843 KKR are now topping the table with four points from thee games. RR and DC are placed second and third respectively.

Andre Russell courtesy of his unbeaten 70 is topping the Orange Cap list after match 8 of IPL 2022. He is on 95 runs from three games at the moment. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis is placed second with 83 runs from two games and Ishan Kishan third with 81 runs to his name.

Updated Purple Cap List:

Umesh Yadav is topping the Purple Cap list with 8 wickets from thee games after match 8 of IPL 2022. He took 4/23 to break the back of the Punjab batting line-up. Tim Southee took 2/36 and together their six wickets dismantled the Punjab batting efforts. Southee is placed second with five wickets to his name followed by Wanindu Hasaranfa.
