The Tata Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022) action continued here on Saturday with yet another doubleheader as Mumbai Indians took on Lucknow Super Giants in the first game and Delhi Capitals took on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2nd game.

In the first game of the day, MI lost their 6th consecutive match of the season and LSG registered their 4th win. While in the 2nd game Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Delhi Capitals by 16 runs.

MI vs LSG

Lucknow Super Giants on the back of KL Rahul’s third IPL century in his 100th IPL game posted a mammoth 199 on the board in the first innings. KL and Quinton de Kock started well for LSG as they posted 50 runs in real quick time. After de Kock’s dismissal, Manish Pandey and KL Rahul had a 70+ stand which gave them a great platform to accelerate in the end overs.

Despite Jasprit Bumrah’s economical spell, MI conceded loads of runs in the slog overs especially Tymal Mills who went for 54 runs in his 3 overs.

Mumbai Indians didn’t start well in their chase as both Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got out cheaply. Dewald Brevis played a cameo of 31 off 13 but that was the only shining light of MI’s innings as other batters struggled to get going. Even Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav struggled to middle the ball who have shown great form in the tournament so far.

Eventually, MI fell short by 18 runs.

DC vs RCB

Rishabh Pant won the toss and Put Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat first. RCB had a horrible start as they lost 3 wickets for 40 runs but then Glenn Maxwell’s 55 off 34 balls steadied their boat. After Maxwell got out, Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik got together and stitched together a partnership of 90+ which took RCB’s score to 189 at the end of their 20 overs. Dinesh Karthik was at his destructive best as he scored 66 runs off 34 balls. While Shahbaz supported him well from the other end.

Delhi Capitals started well in their chase as Prithvi Shaw and David Warner gave them a flying start. But once Shaw got out in the 5th over, Mitchell Marsh playing his first game of the season struggled to get going.
Warner kept going but eventually fell in trying to play a switch hit against Wanindu Hasaranga.

Mitchell Marsh soon got out too followed by a 2 wicket over by Josh Hazelwood. It looked like Rishabh would take the game away from RCB but a fantastic catch by Virat Kohli ended his innings. Once he got out, it was all over for DC.
