IPL Auction 2022 is all set to begin today (February 12). The venue of the mega event is Bengaluru. A total of 590 players will go under the hammer during the event. Out of these, there are 370 Indian players and 220 overseas players.

Among overseas players, Australia has the most number of 47 players. They are followed by West Indies with 34 players. South Africa comes next with 33 players. 24 players from both England and New Zealand are also part of IPL Auction 2022. 23 Sri Lankan players and 17 Afghanistan players will also go under the hammer.

All the teams have a total salary purse of Rs. 90 crores in the auction. However, after retention and draft picks, some amounts have been deducted from their salary purse accordingly. Punjab Kings now has the highest salary pure of Rs. 72 crores. They are followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad with Rs. 68 crores and Rajasthan Royals with 62 crores. Delhi Capitals has the least salary purse available at Rs. 47.50 crores.

With the addition of 2 new teams Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, the IPL auction 2022 will witness bidding wars between 10 teams this time. So far, all the 10 franchises have picked 33 players in their teams.

Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians have retained 4 players each in their squads for IPL 2022. Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad retained 3 players each in their squad. Punjab Kings only retained 2 players.

Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans picked 3 drafts players ahead of the auction. While Lucknow Super Giants picked KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi as their 3 draft players, Gujarat Titans roped in Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill.

IPL auction 2022 will take place on February 12 and 13, 2022 in Bengaluru. The live telecast of the event will commence at 11 AM IST on both days. The live telecast of the IPL 2022 will be available on Star Sports Network.
