England pacer Jofra Archer was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 8 crores on day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega auction. He previously played for Rajasthan Royals (RR) until injuries began plaguing him.

Archer continues to be unavailable and will likely return for the next season. That didn’t stop MI from splurging their cash on him, hoping that the investment could provide better returns in the future.

In addition, fans will be excited to see Archer and Jasprit Bumrah bowl in tandem, two of the best white-ball bowlers in the world. Speaking about the contract, Archer said he wanted to play for the team for a long time.

I am super excited to be joining the Mumbai Indians (MI). It has been a franchise that was really close to my heart and I always wanted to play for them as long as I could have remembered watching IPL cricket,” Jordan said on the video posted by MI.

“Really looking forward to starting a new chapter” – Jofra Archer

Archer’s career has gone downhill ever since hitting a high in the 2019 Ashes. He was overworked and his elbow began flaring up, meaning he had to take breaks very often. Once he is back, however, he hopes to make an impact playing for MI.

I am so glad that I have finally got the opportunity to represent such an amazing franchise. I am also going to get a chance to play with some of the biggest stars in the world. So I am really looking forward to starting a new chapter. See you guys soon,” he added.

MI also splashed the cash on Ishan Kishan, who they bought for INR 15.25 crores, and Tim David, who took home an INR 8.25 crores contract.
