Prithvi Shaw and David Warner, the side’s openers, feasted on a superb bowling attack before surviving a shaky middle-order to post their first 200+ mark in the current edition of the event.

Shaw-Warner contributed 93 runs to get the innings started, while Shardul Thakur (29 not out 11 balls) and Axar Patel (22 off 14 balls) added 49 runs in just 3.2 overs to put the game away.

Warner (61 off 45 balls) and Shaw (51 off 29 balls) were up against one of the most devastating pace assaults of the tournament, but they had the best batting track to their benefit.

David Warner became the fastest batter to reach the milestone:

Warner achieved a milestone in the Indian Premier League en route to his 61-run knock. The Australian batsman surpassed the 5,500-run mark in the innings, becoming only the fifth player in tournament history to do so. Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Suresh Raina are among the batters who have reached the milestone.
“The Australian left-hander also set a new record for the fastest batsman to reach the mark.”

With a six off Andre Russell, Warner completed his first half-century in this edition.

Earlier, Umesh Yadav (1/48 in 4 overs) had his first disastrous IPL performance, while Warner smashed two boundaries over cover in four overs against Pat Cummins (0/51 in 4 overs).

After successive losses to the Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, the Delhi Capitals will be determined to get their season back on track.

The Delhi Capitals put on a strong performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders, winning by 44 runs to move up to sixth place in the Indian Premier League table.
