Shardul Thakur, an all-rounder for the Delhi Capitals (DC), revealed that batter Sarfaraz Khan is not injured. Despite the team losing five wickets against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their IPL 2022 match on Sunday, the latter did not get a chance to bat. Thakur made it clear that it was only a tactical strategy.

At the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, DC defeated KKR by 44 runs.

After Prithvi Shaw and David Warner put on a 93-run partnership for the first wicket, Delhi captain Rishabh Pant was promoted to No. 3. Sarfaraz was not placed in ahead of the middle-order hitter, while Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, and all-rounders Axar Patel and Thakur were all sent in ahead of him.

The decision to move Thakur and Axar ahead of Sarfaraz paid off well, as the duo quickly put up an unbroken 49 runs. Delhi lost their way with a couple of quick wickets, but it was a timely stand.

‘Rishabh Pant just told me that I was next’: Shardul Thakur

Thakur remarked that he was just concerned with the game and only batted when the skipper requested him to. In response to a question on Sarfaraz, he said:

“There were no injuries to be concerned about.” I believe he was ready to bat since No. 3, but it was probably simply a tactical move. The game was so intense that I didn’t bother to pay attention to what was going on or what wasn’t. I walked in to bat when Rishabh Pant told me I was next.”

“The surface was fantastic for batting, although there was a difficult over when we were both new to the crease.” As a result, we took our time with that one. After that, you must try for the big hits in the last two or three overs.

As I previously stated, the pitch was ideal for batting, and we also played some excellent strokes. So the plan was to bat cautiously for that one over before unleashing an all-out assault.

The Delhi Capitals put on a strong performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders, winning by 44 runs to move up to sixth place in the Indian Premier League table.
