KKR vs DC: We Are Trying To Back Kuldeep Yadav And He Is Doing Well - Rishabh Pant
Following Kuldeep Yadav’s splendid performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant said that they have been backing the hard-working leggie and the results are showing.
Kuldeep took 4/35 in four overs against his former franchise, exacting revenge of sorts against a team that couldn’t provide opportunities to him. He ended up winning the Player of the Match award and has also tied Umesh Yadav for most wickets in the IPL 2022 season.
“Kuldeep has been working for one year but hasn’t been getting enough chances. We are trying to back him and he is doing well. We wanted to keep the momentum going and hence sent Axar. We wanted Sarfaraz to arrest the slide if we lose too many wickets and hence kept him back,” Pant said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
“We would have fielded first but didn’t think much” – Rishabh Pant
Pant further mentioned that losing the toss didn’t mean as much since day games are not affected by dew. He was happy to bat first and put a good total on the board and DC certainly exceeded their expectations and put 215 on the board.
“We would have fielded first but didn’t think much. As a batting unit, we wanted to put pressure on the opposition. In these conditions, when the dew is not there if teams score 170-180 it is decent and the pressure is not as much as it is when the score is 200 or more,” Pant further added.
Despite the loss, KKR remains at the top of the points table but their net run rate received a nasty blow. As for DC, they jump to the sixth spot on the table with 2 wins in four matches.
