KKR vs PBKS: Watch - Venkatesh Iyer Departs For Another Low Score As Harpreet Brar Takes A Brilliant Catch
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Venkatesh Iyer’s horrible start to the IPL 2022 season continued as he was dismissed for yet another low score in KKR’s third game against Punjab Kings (PBKS).
After failures against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Iyer was hoping to regain his form from the second phase of the IPL 2021 season. However, he has now failed to do so in three games.
His weakness against raw pace was on display as Odean Smith got the better of the lanky southpaw. Pitched short and outside off, Iyer lashed hard but hit it straight to Harpreet Brar at cover point.
Initially, Brar fumbled but recovered quickly to grab hold of the ball. The replays confirmed the same and Iyer had to depart for 3 off 7 balls. Chasing a low target of 138, Iyer could have taken his time but the lack of patience got the better of him.
Earlier, PBKS played aggressively throughout but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Bhanuka Rajapaksa played a spell-binding cameo of 31 off just 9 deliveries, which included three fours and as many sixes.
A late cameo from Kagiso Rabada helped propel the score to 137. Umesh Yadav once again delivered as he took 4/23 in his four overs, firmly keeping a hold on the purple cap.
