KKR vs RR: It Was A Fantastic Performance, From Two Guys Who Are Very Good Friends – Brendon McCullum On Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head coach Brendon McCullum, after his team’s win over Rajasthan Royals (RR), hailed the duo of good friends – Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh – for their fantastic performance in the match.

Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sanju Samson and co. by 7 wickets on Monday in the 47th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to end their 5-match losing streak.

Notably, Rinku Singh scored 42 runs off 23 balls, including 6 fours and 1 six, to bag the Player of the Match award and Nitish Rana scored 48 runs off 37 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. The duo remained unbeaten till the end and helped KKR finally clinch a victory.

Meanwhile, McCullum said that Rana being out there will Rinku helped the latter a lot and gave him a lot of confidence.

“It was a fantastic performance, from two guys who are very good friends,” McCullum told Star Sports.

“He (Rinku) has been in the franchise for a long period of time. Lucky enough to spend some time with him. He needed to make a statement and he made it in the first game itself. Rana was out in the middle and that gave him (Rinku) a lot of confidence in his company,” McCullum said.

Anukul Roy is also similar to Rinku – Brendon McCullum

Kolkata Knight Riders head coach also said that the selection process is an important one for him because a few players have lost their form and few have sustained injuries.

He further lauded all-rounder Anukul Roy, who replaced Venkatesh Iyer in the KKR playing XI in the match against RR, and said that he is very similar to Rinku and has a bright future ahead.

“Selection role is really important for me. A couple of guys have lost their form and confidence, there have been a few injuries, so we had to force a couple of changes. We wanted five bowlers and with the pitch on the slower side, Anukul came in. We wanted Mavi in the team.

“Anukul was brilliant, he has been around in the IPL for a long time. He is also similar to Rinku, who carries himself well and has a good future ahead of him,” he said.
