Kolkata Knight Riders vs Gujarat Titans, KKR Playing 11 vs GT (Predicted), IPL 2022, Match 35, KKR vs GT. Kolkata Knight Riders, 6th placed will face table-toppers Gujarat Titans in the 35th Match (D/N), at DY Patil Sports Academy on April 23, 2022, at 3:30 pm. Kolkata Knight Riders batter Shreyas Iyer, and Aaron Finch’s efforts fell short as Kolkata Knight Riders lost their last match against Rajasthan Royals.

DC vs RR Dream11 Prediction

Rajasthan Royals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 runs. Put into bat, RR rode on Jos Buttler’s 61-ball 103 innings, which was studded with nine boundaries and five maximums, to post a challenging 217 for five. In reply, Shreyas Iyer blasted 85 off 51 balls and Aaron Finch scored 58 off 28 balls but KKR was eventually bowled out for 210 in 19.4 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the most successful bowler for RR, claiming five wickets for 40 in his quota of four overs including a hat-trick.

With the exception of Shreyas Iyer and Andre Russell to an extent, no KKR batter has been able to play any impactful innings in their campaign. Shreyas Iyer is KKR’s leading run-scorer with 236 runs in 7 matches while Andre Russell has scored 179 runs in 6 innings.

But Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowling is their main concern as apart from Umesh Yadav who has picked 10 scalps, no other bowler has been able to pick more than 6 scalps. They have been too expensive too as depicted by their economic rates. Andre Russell (10.82), Pat Cummins (12), and Shivam Mavi (10.8) have a disastrous start to their campaign.

Varun Chakravarthy’s bowling average this season is 55.25 as he has been able to pick only 4 scalps in 7 games and will be axed for the next match. Mohammed Nabi and Anukul Roy are waiting on the bench and will get chances as the season progresses.

Aaron Finch

Kolkata Knight Riders signed Aaron Finch as a replacement for England batter Alex Hales for the IPL 2022. Aaron Finch is Australia’s maiden ICC T20 World Cup-winning captain in 2021. Aaron Finch, who has played more than 80 IPL games and has over 2000 IPL runs, joined KKR at the price of INR 1.5 crore.

When it comes to IPL, Aaron Finch is no stranger having played for eight other franchises since his IPL debut in 2010. He debuted for KKR against Hyderabad but scored only 7 runs. He though scored 58 in 28 balls against Rajasthan in a losing cause.

Venkatesh Iyer

The all-around option which Venkatesh Iyer brings to the team is indispensable. Venkatesh Iyer would want to produce a repeat of his heroics last year. Venkatesh Iyer, who opened for Kolkata Knight Riders last time and is a medium pacer had a sensational run in the UAE leg of IPL 2021 by amassing 370 runs in just 10 games averaging 41.11 with 4 fifties.

He returned to form against Mumbai in IPL 2022, with his unbeaten 50 crucial in the team’s victory. He has scored 109 runs so far in 7 IPL 2022 games averaging 18.17 but couldn’t replicate the previous season’s form. He may be asked to open again against Gujarat, but Sunil Narine who was run out without scoring against Rajasthan may open yet again.

Nitish Rana

Nitish Rana was brought for 8 crores by his previous team and Kolkata Knight Riders would expect the left-handed batter to prove his worth before it gets late. Nitish Rana could do some real damage to the opposition. He has amassed 141 runs in 6 IPL 2022 games averaging 20.14 including a fifty (54) coming in the game against Hyderabad.

The left-handed batter had a prolific start to the previous IPL season but lost his way in the middle to end up with 383 runs in 16 innings at an average of 29.46 with two half-centuries.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has been acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders in the recently-conducted 2022 IPL auction for a whopping sum of Rs 12.25 crore. He has scored 236 runs so far in 7 IPL 2022 games averaging 39.33 including 2 fifties and is the franchise’s leading run-getter so far this season.

Shreyas Iyer aggregated 204 runs without being dismissed across three innings against Sri Lanka in recently concluded T20Is at a highly impressive strike rate of 174.36. He registered scores of 57*(28), 74*(44), and 73*(45) across three games.

Andre Russell

‘Muscle’ Andre Russell has been a match-winner for Kolkata Knight Riders over the years and won games single-handedly. Andre Russell is off late struggling with hamstring and knee injuries. Andre Russell scored 183 runs and picked up 11 wickets in IPL 2021. In the last two seasons, Andre Russell’s performance has been below par.

He has scored 179 runs so far in 7 IPL 2022 games averaging 44.75 including an unbeaten 70 in a match-winning innings against Punjab and is KKR’s 2nd leading run-getter so far this season. He has also picked 6 scalps in 7 games averaging 24.66. His strike rate with the bat is 177.22 this season.

Baba Indrajith (wk)

Baba Indrajith has been a prolific run-scorer for Tamil Nadu over the years and was one of the spines of Tamil Nadu’s middle-order after veteran S Badrinath moved out of the state in 2014. In 2022 he hit a green patch scoring runs at will in the Ranji Trophy and showcasing his wide array of shots that has impressed many. His twin identical brother Baba Aparajith is a cricketer too.

He is yet to make his IPL debut and KKR could look at giving this young gun a good game time in the 2022 IPL season. Besides batting, he is a keeper too who can open and hence may be an option to replace out-of-form keeper Sheldon Jackson. Abhijeet Tomar is also an option for the opening slot.

Tim Southee

Tim Southee may replace Pat Cummins who has been too expensive. The New Zealand pace great is likely to replace Aussie pacer Pat Cummins who scored the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history against Mumbai but has been ineffective and too expensive with the ball.

One of the best swing ball bowlers in the world Tim Southee was bought in by Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022 at the auction for 1.5 CR. He hasn’t had much success in IPL picking up 31 wickets in the 43 matches he has played. Tim Southee played 2 matches in IPL 2021 and picked up 5 wickets averaging a mere 11.2 at an economy rate of 7.

Pat Cummins has picked 4 scalps in as many matches, averaging 47.5, and has an economy rate of 12, which is extremely poor by his standards.

Sunil Narine

Even after all these years, Sunil Narine remains one of the toughest bowlers to face in the IPL. He isn’t as mysterious as he once was but Sunil Narine is still outfoxing batters. Sunil Narine has picked up 16 wickets and scored 62 runs in IPL 2021. He is on the list of top 10 wicket-takers in IPL history.

Since 2014, he has played for Kolkata Knight Riders. He has picked 6 scalps in 7 games in IPL 2022 so far averaging 23.5 and has been extremely economical-5.03 runs per over. He is Kolkata Knight Riders’ 2nd highest wicket-taker this season so far. He was the pick of the bowlers against Rajasthan, picking 2/21 in 4 overs at an economic rate of 5.2 when all the others conceded runs more than 8 per over.

Umesh Yadav

KKR managed to lift the IPL title when Umesh Yadav was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad during the 2014 edition. He has picked 10 scalps in 7 IPL 2022 games so far averaging a mere 20.7 and is KKR’s leading wicket-taker this season. He was wicketless in the last two matches against Hyderabad and Rajasthan.

Umesh Yadav became only the fourth bowler after Brett Lee, Chaminda Vaas and Iqbal Abdullah picked up a wicket in the first over of a fresh season of the IPL. Umesh Yadav finished with 2/20 against CSK in an economical spell in the 1st IPL 2022 match.

Shivam Mavi

Shivam Mavi

Shivam Mavi made his IPL debut for KKR in 2018 but picked up just 5 wickets. A stress fracture in his back ruled him out of playing competitive cricket since December 2019 and after spending most of his time in rehab, Shivam Mavi was fit and raring to go in the 2020 edition.

He played in 8 games and picked up 9 wickets in the 2020 IPL season and in the 2021 edition, he picked 11 wickets that included a 4-wicket haul against Rajasthan Royals. KKR has had immense faith in Shivam Mavi over the years and was brought back for a whopping INR 7.25 crore.

He has picked 2 scalps in 4 IPL 2022 matches averaging 54 and has an economy rate of 10.8, but will play for the lack of bowling resources of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Anukul Roy

With Krunal Pandya being the senior left-arm spinner in the side, Anukul Roy had to wait for his turn but he did make his IPL debut in 2019 for Mumbai Indians and picked up one wicket from the only game that he played.

Although he didn’t get a game in the 13th edition of the tournament, he significantly made it count as a substitute fielder, picking crucial catches at crucial points of time for the Mumbai Indians. He was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2022 IPL Auction. He is in line to replace Varun Chakravarthy.
