Kona Srikar Bharat was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on day one of the two-day event, which is being held at the Hotel ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru.
The Andhra Pradesh wicketkeeper-batsman Kona Srikar Bharat was signed up by the Delhi franchise for INR 10 lakh in IPL 2015. However, he didn’t get an opportunity to play and he was released by the franchise in the next season.
He had to wait for a very long time to get another deal in the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL) and in February 2021 Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Bharat in the IPL auction.
Overall he has played 8 IPL games and has batted in 7 innings and has scored 191 runs at an average of 38.2 and strike rate of 122.44 with his highest score being 78.
Meanwhile, he had set his base price at 20 lakh for the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction. Delhi Capitals made the first bid for the wicket-keeper and Chennai Super Kings entered the bidding process to compete with Delhi Capitals.
His price went over INR 1 crore very soon and the bidding war was still on between the teams but when the price reached INR 2 crore Kasi gesticulated that CSK are out and Delhi Capitals got Kona Srikar Bharat for INR 2 crore.
He will be joining some big names like Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Anrich Nortje and David Warner in the Delhi Capitals team.
