Former India coach Ravi Shastri lauded Rajat Patidar, whose match-winning century decided to break Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL Eliminator losing streak and advanced them to Qualifier 2 with a 14-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Patidar’s maelstrom undefeated 112 included 12 fours and seven sixes, propelling RCB to 207/6, a total that proved sufficient in the end to propel RCB one bit closer to the IPL 2022 final.

Patidar had a great deal of luck on his way to a century. He was dropped three times during his innings, the last time just before the ball that brought him to his century. Manan Vohra stumped him at short third man, and Deepak Hooda dropped an easy catch off Ravi Bishnoi at deep midwicket. And it’s correct to conclude Patidar managed to make the best of the situation.

“They didn’t help themself by slipping those catches, in Lucknow’s opinion. But that’s part of a game. Patidar would say, ‘I’ll consider taking that.’ When I’m hitting it so well, I expect a certain amount of luck. He was magnificent “added Ravi Shastri.

Surprisingly, Patidar was a substitute player in the IPL this season. The 28-year-old batter, who plays for Madhya Pradesh in the domestic circuit, was expected to replace Luvnith Sisodia, who was ruled out due to an injury.

Patidar made an impression. Ravi Shastri was impressed with the batsman’s innings, remarking that it would be difficult to believe he is only in his 2nd IPL season.

“Once you have special innings, like Rajat Patidar’s. A successor batted like he’d been playing in the Indian premier league for a couple of years. Beautiful shots, brave… unaffected by the event, unafraid of the opponents or its fast bowler. He was incredible. He set up the game for RCB ” Ravi Shastri Said.

KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were defeated by Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 14 runs in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Wednesday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
