Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jaydev Unadkat provided the much-needed breakthrough for his team when he castled Punjab Kings (PBKS) overseas recruit, Jonny Bairstow, with a slower delivery on Wednesday.
MI opted to bowl first on a good batting surface and PBKS made the most of it. Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan put on 97 for the opening partnership before the former fell for a well-made 52 off 32 balls.
Bairstow joined hands with Dhawan to ensure that PBKS doesn’t lose the momentum provided by the good start. However, Bairstow struggled his way to a run-a-ball 12 before Unadkat did him in.
The slower delivery bamboozled Bairstow who ended up getting a thick inside edge which crashed into the stumps. The Englishman was quite disappointed and Unadkat had a wry smile on his face knowing what he had done.
