The MI vs RR contest is getting to a close finish. Mumbai Indians have kept themselves in the game chasing 194 to win at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 193/3 on the back of Jos Buttler’s second ODI ton. He was helped by Sanju Samson’s 30 and Shimron Hetmyer’s 35 in the final overs. The Royals have included Navdeep Saini in the game in place of Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Chasing 194 to win, Mumbai Indians lost skipper Rohit Sharma in the second over of the game. Ishan Kishan scored his 11th IPL fifty and added a key partnership with Tilak Verma after Rohit’s dismissal. The duo added an 81-run stand before Kishan was dismissed by his former Mumbai Indians teammate Trent Boult.

Boult bowled a short delivery to Kishan who tried to hit the ball flat for a six. He timed that well enough but found Navdeep Saini on the way who took a good diving catch and fell on the back of his head around the square leg boundary line. He looked in some discomfort and was taken out of the ground for further treatment. As per reports, there can be a concussion replacement for him in this game. If it happens, he will be the first concussion replaced player in IPL 2022.
Earlier in the game, Jos Buttler scored his second IPL ton as he powered the Royals to 193/8. He hit 11 fours and five sixes in his knock and is the current holder of the Orange Cap.

“Obviously a great feeling and nice to contribute. I’m a bit nervous as it is hard to tell if it is a good score or not with the short boundary one side. Mumbai always attack me with Bumrah, he’s one of the best bowlers in the world and I find him hard to attack, that (Thampi) over the leg-side boundary was short and I decided to target that. I did know (about the inside edge), but you’re never sure so just wanted to wait and see. I got frustrated towards the end as I slowed down, I couldn’t get the ball away as I would have liked and that’s why I feel we could have got a few more. But we would have taken 194 at the start” said Buttler about his innings in the mid-innings break.
