Odean Smith Bought By Punjab Kings For INR 6 Crores In The IPL 2022 Mega Auction

West Indian all-rounder Odean Smith was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 6 crores on Day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Smith was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last season as a net bowler.
He was impressive in the 3-match ODI series against India last week. With the ball, he was quick and skiddy and was able to trouble most of the Indian batters, including Virat Kohli.
Smith’s explosive batsmanship was also on full display in the series. He had a blistering 36-run knock in the final ODI that the Windies lost by 96 runs.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) began the bidding war at his base price of INR 1 crore. Lucknow Super Giant (LSG) came forward but they immediately retreated, leaving Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to enter the fray.
PBKS and SRH went off against each other and the price rose close to INR 4 crore. PBKS dropped out temporarily with Rajasthan Royals (RR) chiming in. RR was quick to back out seeing how fiercely the SRH franchise wanted Smith.

Eventually, SRH backed out after PBKS made the winning bid of INR 6 crores. Smith’s potential will be witnessed in the 3-match T20I series against India starting next week.
