Hardik Pandya’s pinpoint captaincy has been one of the talking points of Gujarat’s brief campaign so far. His bowling changes and field placements have worked well so far.

However, the side needs to be wary of the threat that Punjab Kings possess especially in their batting order. Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Livingstone are the biggest threats. Odean Smith is another player that the Titans would have plans for.

Meanwhile, ahead of this contest, we take a look at the predicted XI that Gujarat Titans might field against Punjab Kings. Having won both their games, they might not make wholesale changes but tactical ones if at all.

Shubman Gill

After a failure in the first game, Shubman Gill hit back to form with an 84 against Delhi Capitals. Gill is seen as the next big thing in Indian cricket and from that perspective, IPL 2022 is going to be a crucial tournament for him. He needs to continue where he left off for the Titans.

Wade will partner with Gill at the top of the order. So far he has not been at his best. However, it takes just one knock to change things in the IPL and the Titans would think that this will be that knock. Wade has been safe behind the stumps and will continue to don the gloves as well.

With Vijay Shankar not delivering much with the bat so far, the management can try and give Wriddhiman Saha a chance in the playing XI. He can also open the batting with Gill and extend the Titans’ batting lineup in that case.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandy has been brilliant both as a captain and as an all-rounder for the team. He has been bowling from the very first match for his side and has batted with responsibility. With the bat too he has scored crucial runs and has contributed to his team’s success. He will slot in at number four in the lineup.

David Miller

David Miller scored an unbeaten 20 off 15 balls to take Gujarat past the 170-run mark in their last game. Miller has been the side’s finisher and that is his designated role for the side. The Titans fetched him for 3 crores in the mega auction.

Rahul Tewatia

Tewatia has been an enigma for the teams he has played for in the IPL. So far in his brief career, he has played his best for Rajasthan Royals. He scored an unbeaten 40 off 24 balls in the first game to help his team win the match against Lucknow Super Giants. For his side’s case, they will hope that he continues his good batting form besides bowling a couple of overs as well.

Abhinav Manohar

The young cricketer was unlucky to get dismissed for one in the last match the Titans played. Despite the low score, Manohar will get one more opportunity as the team will not be too fussed about making wholesale changes as said earlier.

Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan will be the premier spinner for the side and will need to be at his best against the big-hitters of Punjab Kings. His matchups against Shikhar Dhawan, Liam Livingstone, and the hard-hitter Odean Smith. Anything he scores with the bat is a bonus for the Titans.

Lockie Ferguson

Ferguson will be one of the three pacers in this line-up. He is an out-and-out fast bowler who has consistently bowled at nearly 150 Kmph. He has picked up four wickets from two games so far in IPL 2022.

Mohammed Shami

Shami has presented a beautiful seam movement with the help that he has extracted from the conditions. His role will be to pick wickets inside the powerplay and bowl at the death. He is currently placed sixth in the list of top wicket-takers in IPL 2022.

Varun Aaron concludes the strongest looking Gujarat Titans playing Xi against Punjab Kings. He will be the third seamer in the lineup and his role will be to back up the good work done by the premier pacers.
