Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri is impressed with the way Hardik Pandya has led Gujarat Titans so far in IPL 2022. Gujarat is the only unbeaten side in the IPL with their recent win coming against the Punjab Kings.

Hardik Pandya along with Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill were the three players drafted by the franchise ahead of the start of the season. Hardik has been inspirational not only as a skipper but also as a batsman and a bowler. He has resumed bowling and has put an end to all the conundrum and the criticism related to his fitness.

Talking to ESPN Cricinfo, Ravi Shastri has lauded Pandya’s captaincy skills and has put him in the list of probable future captains of India. So far KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant were seen as potential captains in the long run. Now Shastri has thrown in Hardik’s name in that as well.

“He is prepared to bowl with the new ball, he is prepared to bat at No.4. It tells you he is fit, he is very clear in his mind, and the space he is in now is brilliant. Right before this IPL, the question that was asked about a lot of young captains – the word was KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant. Add Hardik Pandya. Don’t take your eye off the ball there guys. This guy can lead a side,” Shastri said on ESPNcricinfo.

The Gujarat Titans skipper in the post-match presentation ceremony spoke about getting fitter with every game.

” I am going to get better with every game. I am getting tired as I’m not used to bowling four overs. But I’m getting better” said Hardik.

The Titans next play against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the DY Patil Stadium on April 11.
