Rajvardhan Hangargekar Bought By Chennai Super Kings (CSK) For INR 1.5 Crore In IPL 2022 Mega Auction

The U-19 World Cup-winning Indian all-rounder Rajvardhan Hangargekar was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction for INR 1.5 Crore in Bengaluru on Sunday, February 13.

The Indian all-rounder had set INR 30 lakh as his base price for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction and Mumbai Indians (MI) made the opening bid for the 19-year-old.

Hangargekar triggered the bidding war between Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings and his price soon went past INR 1 crore. Chennai Super Kings already had all-rounder Shivam Dube in their squad still they bid with INR 1.5 crore to acquire the services of the young all-rounder.

Rajvardhan Hangargekar played a big role in India’s ICC U-19 World Cup 2022 triumph. He picked 5 wickets in the marquee tournament and scored quick 39* runs against the Ireland U19 team. Several cricket experts had predicted that the U-19 sensation will fetch a big deal at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction.

Under the leadership of legendary MS Dhoni in the Chennai Super Kings team, Rajvardhan Hangargekar can become the next big thing in Indian cricket. Meanwhile, he will join experienced players like Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali and Dwayne Bravo in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad.

So far the biggest investment made by Chennai Super Kings at the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction was on bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar. Notably, CSK bought Deepak Chahar for INR 14 crore and he became the most expensive Indian bowler in the history of IPL auction.
