Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell grabbed a sensational one-handed catch in the 67th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to dismiss Gujarat Titans (GT) opening batsman Shubman Gill.

Shubman Gill once again failed to support Wriddhiman Saha and play a big knock for the Hardik Pandya and Co. in their last league stage match of the Indian Premier League 2022.

Gill got out on the third ball of the 3rd over, which was bowled by right-arm pacer Josh Hazlewood, and he was able to score just 1 run off 4 balls.

Hazlewood delivered a good length ball just outside off to the Gujarat Titans’ opening batsman and Gill poked at it away from the body with hard hands and got an outside edge. The ball went flying towards the slip and Maxwell dived full length to his right to complete the one-handed stunning catch.

It’s a shame that we are not in the top-two – Glenn Maxwell

Speaking to the host broadcaster ahead of the match against Gujarat Titans, Glenn Maxwell said:

“Just getting rid of all the excitement and making sure that we are 100% focused. It’s a little bit out of our hands going forward. If we can control what we can control and put in a really good show and hopefully keep ourselves alive in the competition. That’s all we can do right now.”

Maxwell added that everyone in the batting department has got their roles and he and Rajat Patidar usually take on spinners. He said:

“Myself and Rajat Patidar are the two guys that try and take on the spinners a little bit more than the others. Everyone else has the roles specifically in the order. For me, I just go out and try to adapt to whatever situation I’m faced with. Hopefully our openers can get off to a hot start and then set it up for the back end.”

Glenn Maxwell further said that Royal Challengers Bangalore have covered a lot of bases and it’s a shame that they are not placed at the top-2 on the points table. He elaborated

“It (RCB) is a great place to play. The memory of the guys that have played in the franchise is really key to know who’s set the foundations for every little thing that’s happened. We are a very professional outfit. For the first time in a long time, it feels like we’ve got a lot of bases covered, there’s no real weakness. It’s a shame that we are not in the top-two but we feel like we’ve had a really good season.”
