RCB vs KKR: When I Go Play, I Don't Take Any Pressure, That's Why I Got Success – Wanindu Hasaranga After Winning Player Of The Match Award

Wanindu Hasaranga won the Player of the Match award in the 6th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 that was played between Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Wednesday, March 30.

Winning the toss and bowling first, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) demolished the Kolkata Knight Riders batting unit and the RCB bowlers didn’t allow KKR batters to have big partnerships as they kept picking wickets at regular intervals. In the end, Umesh Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy added good 27 runs off 26 balls, which was the best partnership for KKR in the match and the Knights finished at 128/10.

Chasing the target, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost quick wickets of Anuj Rawat, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. However, in the middle overs Sherfane Rutherford, David Willey and Shahbaz Ahmed batted decently. In the end, Dinesh Karthik, former skipper of KKR, and Harshal Patel batted very well and marched the Royal Challengers Bangalore towards victory.

Wanindu Hasaranga got the Man of the Match award for his 4-wicket haul for 20 runs. During the post-match presentation, he said that he doesn’t take any pressure while playing and he feels that is the reason behind his success. Wanindu Hasaranga elaborated:

“Crucial situation, I got only four and got out. I am really happy. Especially with the dew, it is very hard to bowl. My favourite footballer is Neymar and that is his celebration which I do. When I go play, I don’t take any pressure. That’s why I feel I got success.”

Wanindu Hasaranga, after the first innings, expressed delight at wearing the purple cap. He also revealed that Shreyas Iyer’s wicket was his favourite one. He said:

“I am very happy to wear this (purple) cap. These kinds of wickets are very good, straight boundaries are very small, I bowled my normal lengths today and tried to bowl dot balls and it worked well. (The wicket he enjoyed the most) Shreyas Iyer wicket. (On his couple of misfields) These things happen, dew also came in, very hard to field.”
