Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of Team India, has underlined that Virat Kohli has to take a short break to rejuvenate his brain.
In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Virat Kohli has only scored 128 runs in nine games.
In games against the Lucknow Super Giants and SunRisers Hyderabad, the batsman was knocked for a golden duck, even though he could only manage a mark of 9 against the Rajasthan Royals.
Ravi Shastri said, “I believe a break would be beneficial for him since he has played nonstop cricket and commanded the team in all formats.” Taking a break will be wise of him. You know, you have to strike a balance now and then.
“He’s fully signed up for the event (IPL 2022), but if it comes down to it if you want to extend your international career and make an impression there for 6-7 years, withdraw out of the IPL for all you care,” Shastri said on Jatin Sapru’s YouTube channel.
‘The ideal break would be off-season where India is not playing’: Ravi Shastri
Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of Team India, has underlined that Kohli deserves a break to rejuvenate his brain.
“You’ve been playing for fourteen to fifteen years. I’ll tell that to any player, not only Virat. If you want to play for India and do well, you must draw a line when you want to take that break, and the best break would be during the off-season when India is not playing, which is only during the IPL.”
“You may need to do so on occasion, or inform the franchise that you will only be available for half of the game. Simple as that, pay me half. If you want to reach the pinnacle of your career as an international player, you’ll have to make those difficult decisions “He Added.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 29 runs to win their sixth match in the Indian Premier League 2022.
