IPL 2022: Ricky Ponting Has Been A Great Player, Great Human Being, Can't Wait To Meet Him - Yash Dhull

India’s U-19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull is looking forward to meeting the Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach, Ricky Ponting, ahead of the all-important IPL 2022 season that begins on March 26.

DC has assembled a star-filled lineup and Dhull is keen on meeting all of them. He has the captain, Rishabh Pant, and opener, David Warner, at the top of his list and is keen to learn under their guidance.

“This is my first time in the IPL and I am giving my 100 percent in everything that I am doing. I am looking forward to interacting with Rishabh bhaiyya and David Warner. I am also very excited to meet Ricky Ponting. He has been a great player and a great human being. It will be a big achievement for me to interact with him,” Dhull said in the media release ahead of the season.

Delhi Capitals also appointed former Australian opener, Shane Watson, as the assistant coach. He will be working alongside Ponting, who he has played many a game with for the Aussies.

“Really excited to share the news that I will be leaving for India this week to begin a role as assistant coach of @delhicapitals. Can’t wait to be back in the change rooms with my great mate Ricky Ponting.”

“The IPL, the best T20 tournament in the world. I have incredible memories as a player and now coaching opportunities have come. To be able to work under the great Ricky Ponting. He is an amazing leader as captain and now he is one of the best coaches in the world. For me to be able to learn the ropes under Ricky, I am really excited,” Watson said after joining.

Watson played 145 IPL matches and scored 3874 runs including four hundreds. Notably, he also contributed massively with the ball, taking 92 wickets.
