RR vs DC: Twitter Reacts As All-Round Performance From Mitchell Marsh Keeps DC Playoff Hopes Alive
Delhi Capitals (DC) kept their IPL 2022 playoff hopes alive following an excellent victory over third-placed Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the DY Patil Stadium on Wednesday.
Rishabh Pant asked Rajasthan to bat first on a wicket that was tricky to negotiate in the last two games. Jos Buttler, the orange cap holder, didn’t quite look himself and fell after making 7 runs in 11 balls.
Ravichandran Ashwin was promoted up the order and he scored his first IPL fifty off 37 balls before being dismissed by Mitchell Marsh. Devdutt Padikkal partnered with Ashwin and played a quickfire 48 off 30 balls.
RR finished with 160 on the board after they slowed down considerably in the death overs with the Delhi bowlers making great use of the long boundaries. In response, DC lost Srikar Bharat on the very second delivery of the innings.
They should have had Marsh as well but Trent Boult didn’t opt to ask for a review which showed that Marsh was caught plumb in front of the wicket. He went on to make them pay and built a 144-run stand for the second wicket with David Warner.
Marsh scored 89 in 62 balls and fell short of a deserved maiden IPL century. However, Pant and Warner then ensured that Delhi get over the line without further hiccups. The win keeps Delhi’s playoff hopes alive and they now have 6 wins in 12 matches.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to RR vs DC:
What was that? Was that a chase? If yes then it was an unbelievable chase. They made it look so simple. Kudos to Warner and Marsh. Rajasthan is making its life tougher through unwanted experiments. #RRvDC #TATAIPL #IPL2022

Wow the Aussies for #DC keep them in the hunt of the #IPL2022 Warner but more importantly Marsh belligerent… brings them up to 5th place. Just one win away from the top 4!!

Mitch Marsh must hope his body supports him for the next 2-3 years. In the form he is in, and with the ability he has, he could turn many matches around…like he has today.

Funny, but the best part of that Mitch Marsh innings was the restraint.
In spite of those 7 sixes, it was the restraint. How he rocked back and cut the spinners for singles. Didn't overdo it.

IPL gyaan: is there a cricketer oozing with the shot making talent of a @RishabhPant17 ? Just played a couple of ‘outrageously’ good shots in his first over. Fearless spirit, super hand eye coordination backed by forearm power: and this when not in form! Just incredible. #RRvDC

Umpires sold to DC as always. Marsh not given LBW when it was a plumb and Warner was bowled by Chahal but bails didn't come off. ??? Better umpire buyers than MI. #HallaBol #RRvsDC #DelhiCapitals
