RR vs KKR: Twitter Erupts As Jos Buttler Smashes His 2nd Ton Of The IPL 2022
Updated - 18 Apr 2022, 11:22 PM
Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler continued his stunning start to the IPL 2022 season as he smashed his second century on Monday night against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
After being put in to bat first, Rajasthan made the most of the good batting conditions. Buttler once again provided a quickfire start in the powerplay, targeting every single KKR bowler thrown at him.
Varun Chakravarthy took the brunt of the damage. He has been having a terrible season and it was compounded by Buttler, who didn’t pull his punches when up against the mystery spinner.
Buttler’s partner at the other end, Devdutt Padikkal, played second fiddle to the Englishman, rotating the strike and letting the orange cap holder make the most of his purple patch.
Buttler reached his fifty off just 29 balls and continued piling on the runs after Padikkal fell. He slowed down but Sanju Samson continued the momentum before Buttler finally smashed a full toss off Pat Cummins for a six over long-on to reach his hundred.
He has now built over a 100-run lead on the next highest run-scorer of the season, KL Rahul. The Englishman also has an opportunity to break the all-time record of most runs in a single season held by Virat Kohli (973 runs).
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Jos Buttler’s century:
In six matches so far there is only one match where #Buttler has scored less than 35! Two tons in #IPL2022 is remarkable feat. #KKRvsRR pic.twitter.com/X8kyQIV0FX
