Rajasthan Royals (RR) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal on Sunday completed 150 IPL wickets in the match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Royals eked out LSG by three runs to win their third game of IPL 2022 while defending the total.
Shimron Hetmyer’s 36-ball 59, laced with one four and six sixes at 163.89, powered Rajasthan Royals to 165/6 at the end of the innings. Chahal claimed the figures of 4/41 to destabilise LSG’s batting order in their chase.

Chahal kept tumbling with wickets at regular intervals after New Zealand pacer Trent Boult dented early blows with the wickets of KL Rahul and Krishnappa Gowtham in the first two balls of the innings. LSG were always behind the chase even though Quinton de Kock (39) and Deepak Hooda (25) tried to resurrect the innings.
However, IPL debutant Kuldeep Sen cleaned up Hooda in the 10th over to break LSG’s resistance before Chahal sent back youngster Ayush Badoni on the final ball of the 12th over. Skipper Sanju Samson had kept two overs of the leg-spinner reserved for the slog overs against Marcus Stoinis.
In the 16th over, Chahal got the wickets of de Kock and Krunal Pandya. The South African pulled flat with the bottom of his bat and holed out to Riyan Parag at long-on while Krunal was beaten by the turn of Chahal while attempting a sweep shot.

Chahal became the sixth bowler to achieve the milestone and also the second-fastest to pick 150 IPL wickets after Rajasthan Royals’ current fast-bowling coach Lasith Malinga.
Chahal is currently placed fifth in the list of leading wicket-takers of the IPL, he picked 139 of 150 wickets while wearing the jersey of Royal Challengers Bangalore for eight seasons. Chahal is also the leading wicket-taker of IPL 2022 with 11 wickets in four matches at an economy rate of 6.5.
