Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra was baffled by Virat Kohli’s runout against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rajasthan Royals posted 169 after Jos Buttler (70*) and Shimron Hetmyer (42) added 62 runs in the last four overs in their unbroken alliance of 83 runs.
RCB’s chase faltered in the middle despite a steady opening stand of 55 runs between Faf du Plessis (29) and Anuj Rawat (26) over seven overs. The openers negated the new ball threat from Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult. As the duo moved swiftly towards their target of 170, former RCB bowler Yuzvendra Chahal got the breakthrough for Rajasthan.

Chahal got the better of the RCB skipper, who miscued a shot down towards long-on and Boult took a comfortable catch to end the stand. In his next over, Chahal first ran out his former RCB teammate Virat Kohli and cleaned up David Willey with his wily leg-break.
You never see Virat Kohli getting run out like that: Aakash Chopra
Chopra is of the opinion that Kohli should have attempted a dive to avoid his dismissal. The former KKR player mentioned it was a rare instance for him to watch the RCB batter, who is very quick between wickets, get run out.
“Willey played the ball on the leg side, there was no run. Virat Kohli goes halfway and then comes back. I mean but why, because Willey did not move at all, so it was not his fault at all. You never see Virat Kohli getting run out like that, I don’t even remember the last time he got run out. What exactly is happening, I don’t know,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“When he was getting run out, he didn’t put in the dive, he tried by stretching but didn’t put his life. It was strange, it was bizarre, it is so unlike Kohli but we are saying for the last six months that it is so unlike Kohli,” he added.
Dinesh Karthik (44*) and Shahbaz Ahmed (45) cruised RCB to a four-wicket win with five balls to spare.
