Virat Kohli got run out for 5 runs in the 9th over of the match against Rajasthan Royals in Match 13 of the Indian Premier League.
Rajasthan Royals gave Royal Challengers Bangalore a target of 170 runs. RCB started well with Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat putting up a 50+ stand. But Yuzvendra Chahal outfoxed Faf to get his wicket. Rawat followed Faf soon after.
Virat Kohli’s Run Out A Turning Point
RCB were 55 for no loss at the end of 7 overs but soon they lost back to back wickets on 55 and 61. Kohli had just faced 6 deliveries when he got run out at the non-strikers’ end.
Sanju Samson did a brilliant job as he quickly reached the ball after David Willey tried to flick the ball to the leg side. He released the ball being off-balance, Yuzvendra Chahal then did the rest of the work by picking up the ball and dislodging the bails.
With Kohli’s wicket, RCB were reduced to 62-3, but soon it became 62-4 as David Willey got bowled by Chahal on the very next ball. Kohli was just looking to settle in as he looked solid in the middle. He was quick between the wickets to start his innings but ultimately he got run out in search of a quick single.
Earlier in the day, Faf won the toss and chose to field first. Jos Buttler played mature innings of 70 runs. He hit 6 sixes in his innings. He was ably supported by Shimron Hetmyer in the slog overs. Hetmyer scored 42 runs from 31 balls and provided a perfect finish to RR innings as he hit a 6 on the last ball of the innings. This was the third game in a row when RR batted first. They have won both their games.
Buttler struggled to get going in the beginning but he soon found his feet. He maintained his composure and got his team to a competitive total.
