SRH vs KKR: Former Cricketers Want Rahul Tripathi In the Indian Team, Bats For His Inclusion

Rahul Tripathi scored a match-winning 71 against his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. He is the top scorer in the IPL amongst the uncapped players and has impressed one and all with his batting performance in the game.

Rahul Tripathi walked out to bat at number three with SRH on 39 for 2. He added a 94-run stand with Aiden Markram which turned out to be a matchwinning one. His knock helped Hyderabad notch up their third straight win after losing the first two games to start the season.

Tripathi’s exploits with the bat has made former Indian cricketers call out for his inclusion in the Indian squad. Despite consistent performances in the IPL, Tripathi has failed to win his maiden India cap as the selectors have continuously ignored him from the selection.

Aakash Chopra was the first one to at for Tripathi’s inclusion in the Indian playing XI. Taking to Twitter, he rated the batter as his favourite uncapped player.

Former Indian spinner Murali Karthik was the next to show his support for Rahul Tripathi.

Next was Irfan Pathan who lauded Tripathi’s consistency in the IPL saying that he is the most impressive uncapped batsman.

“Every year Rahul Tripathi comes to IPL does his job quietly but surely. Most impressive Uncapped batter!” wrote Irfan Pathan.

The right-hand batter also had a word on his own performance in the post-match presentation. He said that he was happy with KKR and the management is treating him well now at SRH.

“I enjoyed myself today. The time with KKR was special, and now it is special with SRH as well. Russell bangs it in short if you are new, and I was looking for that shot if the ball was there. Varun bowls well, I didn’t expect him to pitch it up and that’s why I went through with that lofted shot. It wasn’t premeditated. It’s been very special with KKR, and now with SRH too in the last few games” said Tripathi.
