IPL Media Rights Tender To Be Bid By Global Giants Including Reliance, Amazon, And Disney

The Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights tender is all set to be bid by global giants including Reliance, Amazon, and Disney.
Notably, the Indian Premier League is the most popular T20 league in the world and last year the cash-rich league brought in 380 million viewers. The global giants are set to battle for broadcasting rights as the marquee Indian Premier League will get them millions of new viewers and subscribers.

According to reports, Mukesh Ambani’s conglomerate is set to bring together a consortium with the goal to outbid entertainment giants Amazon, Disney and Sony for the telecast and streaming rights for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league.
Also, Reliance Industries Ltd. and its television partner Viacom are in talks to include James Murdoch-founded Lupa Systems LLC as well as Comcast Corp. in the consortium and the reports claim that the bids for the streaming rights for the Indian Premier League are most likely to exceed INR 400 billion.
Amazon will be bidding for the broadcasting rights because they want to fix up their sports offerings for Amazon Prime and Sony is likely to bid with Zee Entertainment Enterprises. Meanwhile, Disney wants to retain the Indian Premier League broadcasting rights as it is important for them to strengthen its market share in India
The bids will be soon submitted to the BCCI and the board will announce the winner in the last week of March.
IPL 2022 Most Likely To Begin In The Last Week Of March
The marquee Indian Premier League 2022 is expected to begin in the last week of March. The Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction was held at the Hotel ITC Gardenia, in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.
The 10 Indian Premier League 2022 franchises – Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals – were engaged in an intense bidding war in the two-day event to acquire their favourite players.
In total ₹5,51,70,00,000 were spent at the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction and amongst 600 players that went under the hammer, 204 were sold, including 67 overseas players.
