The five-time IPL winners suffered one of their worst campaigns in the history of the tournament losing the first eight matches on the trot.

Rohit Sharma and his men became the first team that bowed out of IPL 2022 owing to their dismal performance.

MI outplayed rivals CSK by five wickets to end their hopes of making the cut for the playoffs.

Senior players like skipper Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Kieron Pollard being out of form was the biggest concern for MI this season, where they had plenty of youngsters coming in.

Jasprit was also under fire in the major part of the tournament, picking just five wickets in the first 10 matches.

Let us look at the three best clashes of Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022.

IPL 2022: 3 Most Memorable Encounters Of The Season For Mumbai Indians (MI)

MI vs RR (April 2, Navi Mumbai)

Mumbai Indians won their first game of the season after registering a victory against Rajasthan Royals by five wickets in the second leg.

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma led the charge with the bat and rescued MI out of trouble as they successfully chased down the target of 159.

Chasing 159, MI were 22/0 in two overs before skipper Rohit Sharma’s top-edge was caught by Daryl Mitchell, off Ravi Ashwin’s bowling.

Ishan Kishan put pressure on the bowlers with his aggressive blows but the opener mistimed a pull-shot, which was caught by Samson. MI were 41-2 at the end of 6 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav counter-attacked and struck three fours to get going. Tilak Varma was also off the mark with a six straight down the ground.

GT vs MI (May 6, Mumbai)

Just after their first win against the Royals, Mumbai Indians eked out table leaders Gujarat Titans by five runs in a nail-biting encounter.

MI rode on Tim David’s late firing (44 in 21 balls) after openers Rohit Sharma (43) and Ishan Kishan (45) provided some crucial runs in the start as they ended with 177 for 6.

Gujarat Titans openers Wriddhiman Saha (55) and Shubman Gill (52) laid the platform for the chase with a stellar 106-run stand between them before the duo departed in the 13th over of Murugan Ashwin.

Titans needed 9 runs in the final over to seal another memorable run-chase. David Miller and Rahul Tewatia, two of the best finishers, were present at the crease.

Left-arm pacer Daniel Sams bowled a stunning over, that denied Miller the onus to finish the game as MI cruised to a five-run win.

MI vs DC (May 21, Mumbai)

Jasprit Bumrah’s three-wicket haul restricted the Capitals to 159/7 after MI opted to field first.

Ishan Kishan, Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma made a handful of contributions in the moderate chase but the player of the moment was Tim David.

The Singapore-born batter played at a strike rate of 309.9 during his 11-ball 34 to snatch the victory from the Capitals, denting their chances to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs.

David stunned the Capitals bowlers with the sixes straight down the ground, two maximums off Shardul Thakur before getting caught by a leading edge.

Ramandeep Singh ensured David’s efforts didn’t go in vain and the youngster hit the winning runs off Khaleel Ahmed in the final over.

MI’s win was Royal Challengers Bangalore’s gain as they made the cut for the knockout stage in fourth place.
