Former Australia bowler Brad Hogg picked his best XI of the IPL 2021 and named Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant as the skipper of his XI.

The IPL 2021 had to be suspended on May 4 due to the COVID-19 breaching the team bubbles. Multiple players, coaches, and support staff, including ground staff, contracted the disease and the BCCI was forced to postpone the league until further notice with 29 matches already played.

Though the tournament was suspended just after 29 matches, the viewers were entertained with some stunning performances. On the basis of the performances delivered by various players, former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg came up with the Best XI of IPL 2021.

Delhi Capitals’ Openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan to Open the Innings for Brad Hogg’s Best IPL 2021 XI

First and foremost, Brad Hogg chose DC’s hot and explosive opening combination of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw to open his Best XI of IPL 2021. They crushed and demolished bowlers in the first six overs and many times continued the demolition job for the full first 10 overs. While Shikhar was the highest run-getter with 380 runs, Shaw is the fourth-highest run-scorer with 308 runs.

Rajasthan Royal’s new skipper Sanju Samson was picked at no.3 spot. He scored an amazing century- 119 on his captaincy debut, becoming the first batsman to do so in IPL history and unlike other seasons, Samson showed some consistency in the IPL 2021.

Rishabh Pant was named at no.4 and he was also picked as the captain of the Best XI of IPL 2021 by Hogg. Pant’s leadership helped DC attain a top position with 6 wins from 8 matches and 12 points to their name.

He is followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finisher AB de Villiers who just obliterated opposition bowlers in the death overs. Brad Hogg named Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran as two all-rounders of his eleven. Both Jadeja and Curran turned out for the Chennai Super Kings and impressed with their conduct with the bat and the ball.

As for the spinners, SRH’s Rashid Khan and MI’s Rahul Chahar were picked by Hogg. In what can be said as a disappointing season thus far for SRH, Rashid Khan was the lone shining light for them. Rahul Chahar did amazingly well for MI, especially in Chennai, where he controlled the game in middle overs.

As far as the pace attack is concerned, DC’s Avesh Khan and MI’s Jasprit Bumrah were included.

Brad Hogg’s Best IPL 2021 XI:

Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant (WK) (C), AB de Villiers, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Rashid Khan, Rahul Chahar, Avesh Khan, Jasprit Bumrah
