Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant was over the moon and dedicated his team’s victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their recent encounter in the ongoing IPL 2021 to all the front line workers keeping the citizens safe. The match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had batted first after Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to field. It was a struggle for the purple and gold team as their top order just couldn’t get going. Nitish Rana made 15 runs in 12 balls, before getting stumped by Rishabh Pant off Axar Patel. Rahul Tripathi followed for 19 runs before getting out to Stoinis.
Shubman Gill (43) and Andre Russell (45) were the highest run-getters for KKR in the match, while Eoin Morgan and Sunil Narine scored ducks. Russell, who was celebrating his 33rd birthday, slammed 4 sixes and 2 fours in his knock, which took KKR to 154/6 in 20 overs. Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav picked two wickets each.

Delhi Capitals chased down the total with disdain, thanks to a blistering knock by Prithvi Shaw. Shaw hammered 24 runs, hitting 6 fours in 6 balls to Shivam Mavi, who bowled the first over of DC innings and didn’t stop from there. He continued smashing the DC bowling and hit 82 runs in 41 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes.
He added 132 runs in 13.5 overs with Shikhar Dhawan, who made 46 runs in 47 balls. Though the duo fell going for quick runs to get the net run-rate advantage, Rishabh Pant (16 in 8 balls) and Delhi Capitals reached the target in 16.3 overs only with 7 wickets in hand.
“Absolutely thrilled with the way the team played today. Clinical performance from everyone and we’ll take this confidence into the next games!! Dedicating this win to all the frontline workers across India who are doing their best to keep us safe @DelhiCapitals #RP17,” Pant tweeted.
