England and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Eoin Morgan presented an update on his injury which he had sustained during the India-England ODI series, during the first match, and had to miss the rest of the two one-day matches.

Morgan had split the webbing between his thumb and finger on his right hand and went off the field and required stitches. Jos Buttler then took over as captain, as Morgan was ruled out of the remaining two ODI matches. England lost the series 2-1, as India won the first and third ODI matches.
Given The Time Frame That I Have Available To Me, It Is Looking Very Good: Eoin Morgan
There were speculations that Morgan might also miss a few matches for the KKR in the upcoming IPL 2021 edition. However, in a virtual press conference on Wednesday, the skipper confirmed that he is continuing well and feels a lot better. Morgan further revealed that his stitches will be removed on Thursday after which he will be concentrating on his batting and fielding.

“I feel a lot better than I did probably a week ago. The plan moving forward is to remove the stitches tomorrow. Then progress my batting in the coming days and over the week, and then fielding at the back end of that. Given the time frame that I have available to me, it is looking very good,” said Morgan.
Morgan had taken over as KKR captain in IPL 2020 in the middle of the tournament in UAE after Dinesh Karthik decided to step down and focus on his keeping and batting. However, problems with batting order marred their campaign, with Morgan himself batting at various positions and compiling 418 runs in 14 games.

“So we are all due to get together quite soon, at the end of the week. There we will discuss all of our plans and thoughts and actually talk about our strengths as a squad and as a team,” Morgan said about KKR’s batting line-up and other plans.
The IPL 2021 will begin from April 9 onwards and will be played across six venues namely Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
