Mumbai Indians (MI) who have five titles under their belt so far in IPL history will be taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening game of IPL 2021 today in Chennai. Mumbai has dominated the IPL so far in the last two years and will defend the title for the second time in a row in the upcoming edition too. Mumbai have a lot of match-winners and their bowling attack has been splendid with a lot of options.

They have a squad boasted of Indian stars and overseas recruits that combine well and make the most of the opportunities. With no team having home advantage in this IPL, Mumbai will have to adjust to the spin conditions in Chennai. Here are 3 Mumbai Indians stars who can be the game changers against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Ishan Kishan will be one of the players to watch out in the first game against RCB as the left-hander is an excellent player of spin. With RCB looking to pack their playing XI with three spinners in the turning tracks at Chennai, Ishan Kishan will be looking to make the most out of it.

He is a naturally aggressive player and backs himself to take on the bowlers. RCB will rely on Yuzvendra Chahal a lot, and Ishan Kishan is the only left-hander in the top five of the Mumbai batting lineup with De Kock not available for the first game. Kishan will have to keep his rhythm going from the last IPL where he was the highest run-scorer for Mumbai.

Hardik Pandya:

Hardik Pandya will be handy with the bat as well as with the ball in Chennai conditions. Hardik Pandya is an excellent player of spin and uses the bottom hand to get it over the boundary line. Pandya is one of the phenomenal strikers of the cricket ball and Mumbai will need his services in the game.

Hardik Pandya recently showed how effective he can be as a bowler in the T20 format for India. He bowled four economical overs and has been among the wickets regularly. His slow bouncers and cutters will be very useful in the turning tracks and RCB batsmen generally like the ball coming onto the bat, which Hardik should have been aware of.

Kieron Pollard:

Kieron Pollard has won a lot of games for Mumbai Indians single-handedly and has got a lot of experience in the T20 format around the world. The West Indies limited-overs captain is a good player of spin and tonks it out of the stadium if the bowlers overpitch slightly. He has a lot of power and strength and is very good at death.

Chennai has been a slow and low scoring pitch over the years, and hence Pollard’s bowling will come in handy for the Mumbai Indians in the middle overs. He is a very underrated bowler in the T20 format and he can do the job when the onus is on him to deliver. Rohit will have to use Pollard wisely who is a very clever bowler.
