The game has gradually moved towards the favour of the batsman especially in IPL and the bowlers are becoming far more vulnerable with the new field restrictions taking place. Such has been the change in the size of bats and the players improving their physical strength to clear the boundaries which have resulted in a lot of high scores.

The IPL 2020 saw a fascinating battle between bat and ball and the players had to hold their nerve to win the pressure games. The other factor to be considered is the youngsters playing without fear of failure. They are more interested in expressing their natural game in however the situation may be. Prithvi Shaw produced a brilliant display of batting in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy 2020-2021 and his performances could earn him a spot in the Indian limited-overs series again. He lost his place in the Indian test team after a string of poor failures and was dropped from the Indian squad post the Australian tour.

The youngster came back to the domestic circuit and took over the captaincy responsibilities for the Mumbai team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He finished as the top run-scorer in the tournament with 827 runs at an average of 165.40 and broke a lot of records including the highest individual score in the tournament with 227 not out. He is expected to get out of the screws and hit a century for Delhi Capitals this year.

Ishan Kishan rocked the domestic cricket recently with a blazing 173 for Jharkhand and earned a spot in the Indian T20 squad for the England series. The wicket-keeper batsman was the highest run-scorer for Mumbai Indians last in the previous edition and impressed everyone with his aggressive batting.

He scored 56 on his debut innings against England and became the second Indian T20i batsman to score a half-century on debut. He is expected a play a crucial role for the Mumbai Indians and considering the attacking role he can play, he is expected to hit a century for Mumbai Indians this year.

Dawid Malan:

Dawid Malan’s international numbers have been so good in the T20 format and he is the number one T20 international batsman. He averages more than 50 in the 24 games he has played and has scored 1003 runs at a strike rate of 144.3. He also has a hundred in the format already and a lot will be expected from him in the coming years.

Malan was brought by the Punjab Kings in the IPL Auction 2021 for his base price of 1.50 and his consistency is a great feature for him. He mainly bats in the top order and if Punjab opts to play him at three ahead of Chris Gayle, then he is one of the best contenders to score a century in the IPL as he gets to fifty without even taking risks.

The Indian test opener Shubman Gill who has earned his place in the Indian setup now will be aiming to make it big this year. He had an excellent tour of Australia and a lot was expected from him in the England series. But he failed to continue his dominance and showed glimpses of weakness that could be identified.

This will be an important IPL for Shubman Gill who has been on the radar of the selectors and a lot of experts have been impressed by the youngster. The 21-year-old has played 41 IPL games scoring 939 runs at an average of 33.5 which is very less compared to his standards. But he has got everything in him to score big and he is expected to score a century in this IPL.

The Karnataka Batsman Devdutt Padikkal has been performing consistently in the last two domestic tournaments and produced some excellent performances for RCB despite being in his debut IPL season. He finished as the second-highest run-getter in the tournament with 737 runs at an average of 147.40.

Padikkal is waiting on the wings to earn his maiden call-up to the Indian team and a good season might boost his possibilities to enter the minds of the selectors. Padikkal is expected to be a strong contender to hit a century this year in the IPL and he has got the backing of his captain Virat Kohli.
