IPL 2021: Ben Stokes Takes A Dig At Sunil Gavaskar's Commentary In DC vs PBKS
Updated - 19 Apr 2021, 12:03 AM
Rajasthan Royals’ all-rounder Ben Stokes might have left for England following a finger injury that ruled him out of IPL 2021; however, he kept himself updated with the action. Ben Stokes could only play the Royals’ opening match of IPL 2021 against the Punjab Kings and injured his finger while fielding. The seam-bowling all-rounder took to Twitter and pointed out Sunil Gavaskar’s commentary mistake during the ongoing clash between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Mumbai.
The incident occurred in the 11th over of Punjab Kings’ innings when captain KL Rahul was on strike and Kagiso Rabada steamed in. Rabada copped for two sixes as Mayank Agarwal hit those cleanly and the speedster delivered a short ball to Rahul, who crafted a hook shot over the backward square region. Sunil Gavaskar, the commentator, claimed, “Such a poor bouncer, if you want to bowl a bouncer it must be over Off Stump, and the replay said “bouncer line directly over Off Stump,”
The same left Ben Stokes unimpressed as he indicated with his emoticons in his official Twitter handle. Speaking of the match, Punjab Kings batted first after losing the toss and racked up 195 in 20 overs, following half-centuries from Rahul and Agarwal. Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan delivered some big hits towards the end to take the score close to 200 when it looked like they would not reach.

Meanwhile, Ben Stokes is set to undergo surgery and be out of action for 12 weeks. The 29-year old could likely miss the home Tests and New Zealand, but could return for the subsequent rubber against India.
