Delhi Capitals pacer Anrich Nortje expressed his disappointment at missing out on game time during the first half of IPL 2021. He returned to the eleven with a match-winning display against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday evening in Dubai.

Despite terrific performances last season, when he bagged 22 wickets, Anrich Nortje didn’t get to play even a single game this time during the India leg, first due to quarantine and then for the team combination.

However, as the tournament returned to the UAE, the South African would have been one of the first names on the sheet, as he paired with compatriot Kagiso Rabada to help the Capitals register their 7th win of the season.

“Missing out in the first half was disappointing. It was good to have a good start to the tournament for me. Looking at the first game here, it was good to see some grass and then yesterday’s big score – didn’t know what to expect. It was good to keep things simple in the end,” Anrich Nortje said at the post-match presentation.

Was really happy that I managed to take that early wicket of Warner: Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje got rid of David Warner with a sharp short ball in the first over of the game, before returning to trap Kedar Jadhav lbw with a full-length delivery, finishing with outstanding figures of 4-0-12-2, worthy of the Man of the Match award.

He said that he was happy to take Warner’s wicket, but doesn’t focus on the batter he is getting out but only that he getting someone out.

“Was really happy that I managed to take that early wicket (of Warner). I don’t really focus on who I’m getting out, but I’m happy I contributed to the team’s win,” the 27-year-old added.

The Capitals travel to Abu Dhabi next where they will meet Rajasthan Royals on Saturday afternoon. Hyderabad will go to Sharjah to take on the Punjab Kings on Saturday evening.
