IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians Is The Toughest Team In IPL, Says Dwayne Bravo

Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Dwayne Bravo said that it is a great feeling to win against rivals Mumbai Indians.

On Sunday, CSK beat MI by 20 runs as IPL 2021 resumed after four and a half months amid the COVID-19 pandemic in Dubai.

CSK were in a challenging situation as they were reeling at 24/4 at the end of the powerplay. Opener Rurutaj Gaikwad scored 88 off 58 balls, his innings was studded with nine fours and four sixes, as CSK posted a total of 156/6 at the end of their innings.

Dwayne Bravo power fired 23 runs from eight balls

Bravo, who guided St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to their maiden CPL title a few days ago, pummelled three sixes, a couple of them came against Trent Boult in the penultimate over.

Bravo played a massive cameo of 23 from eight balls before getting out to Jasprit Bumrah in the final over. The West Indies all-rounder also returned with three wickets in the second innings as Mumbai Indians ended at 136/8.

Bravo said that playing against Mumbai Indians feels like he is playing in the final.

“It’s a good feeling, obviously against MI it’s the toughest team in IPL and it’s like a final playing against them, always a good feeling to win. Just tried to protect myself in the last stages of CPL and when I came over here, just had one bowling session which was yesterday, and happy to get 4 overs through today,” Bravo told the official broadcasters after the match.

“Now I bat lower down the order with the batting line-up like CSK, for me, it’s just about trying to get the momentum and try to capitalize, adjust and adapt.  

“Just try to give the best of my ability whenever I go out to bat. Gaikwad has been our star player end of last season and this season and he is a quality player. Played proper cricket shots and played till the end. He has an appetite for runs and it’s good to get over the line this game,” he added. 

CSK’s victory against MI took them to the top of the points table with 12 points. CSK will next play RCB on September 24 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
