Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain KL Rahul hoped for better luck in the upcoming IPL 2021 which begins on April 9. KL Rahul said that his team was a tad but unlucky in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the opening batsman is hoping that the change in the name of the brand will bring some good fortune for the side.

The team which was formerly known as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), changed its name, logo, and look in February this year. The franchise will be seen donning a red jersey with golden stripes for this season, opting for a different, unique design for this new-look team.
We Have Our Fingers Crossed: KL Rahul
The PBKS team couldn’t make it into the playoffs due to net run-rate issues, which stemmed from their loss to Delhi Capitals in a super over where a run was called short robbing them of a deserved victory.

“We have our fingers crossed. I genuinely believe that we were a tad bit unlucky last year. We did play some really good cricket. A couple of the games we really couldn’t close for a couple of reasons. It did hurt a little bit, so I’m hoping the change of name and jerseys, and a whole lot of other changes, will bring us some good fortune,” said KL Rahul in a podcast on Red Bull’s Decoding Athletes series.
I Am Looking Forward To Watching Riley Meredith Bowl: KL Rahul
Punjab Kings paid quite a good amount of money to bring in some real pace bowlers, namely Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith. Meredith made his name in Big Bash League with his ability to bowl at a searing pace and fire in yorkers and bouncers at will.

“I’m looking forward to watching Riley Meredith bowl. I’ve watched him in a couple of games. He looks like he can bowl some proper pace. That’s something I felt we were missing for a few seasons – someone who can intimidate the opposition with some pace. So I’m really looking forward to watch him bowl,” KL Rahul said.
Punjab Kings will play against Rajasthan Royals in their first game on April 12 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
