Anrich Nortje’s 2/12, Kagiso Rabada’s three-wicket haul helped set up the Delhi Capitals (DC) for their 8-wicket victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday in Dubai as they chased down 135 with 13 balls to spare.
Rishabh Pant’s side also takes the top spot in the points table displacing the Chennai Super Kings while Kane Williamson’s SRH continue to languish at the bottom of the table with 7 losses now in 8 games.
As for the run-chase, Prithvi Shaw started off his imperious batting form with a couple of disdainful boundaries before Khaleel Ahmed deceived him with a slower ball. On the other end, Shikhar Dhawan continued from where he left off in May with a flurry of fours.

Dhawan was joined by Shreyas Iyer, who missed the first half of the season due to a shoulder injury, and both forged a 52-run partnership in 48 balls before the left-hander holed out for 42 in the deep off Rashid Khan.
Iyer and Rishabh Pant batted with attacking intent to bring down the required rate under 6. The pair added 67 runs off 42 balls to complete the chase. Iyer remained unbeaten on 47 while Pant on 35.
Earlier, after electing to bat first, SRH got off to a poor start with the returning David Warner unable to handle Nortje’s pace and bounce, getting out for a 3-ball duck in the first over. Wriddhiman Saha tried to up the ante with a six off Rabada, but the pacer had the last laugh with another short ball.

Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey steadied the ship for a while with a 30-ball 31-run stand during which the SRH skipper was dropped twice. In the 10th over, Axar Patel ended Williamson’s scratchy stay in which he managed 18 runs off 26 balls.
Pandey followed Williamson to the dressing room in the next over courtesy of Rabada. Kedar Jadhav and Jason Holder too couldn’t adjust to the pace of the pitch.
It was only the late power-hitting of young Abdul Samad (28 off 21) and Rashid Khan (22 off 19) that helped SRH cross 130.
Netizens were full of praise for the winning side while also lamented the poor state of SRH.

Delhi Capitals defeats SRH by 8 wickets. Comprehensive performance by Delhi, extraordinary work done by their players. Dhawan, Iyer and Pant guided them in the chase. Iyer played well on his comeback.
