Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik was highly critical of the posts on social media and felt that the pain behind the depth of the trolls is not understood. Social media has become a graveyard for popular people who tend to get exposed and the eliminator of IPL 2021 was a great example of it.
RCB despite having the firepower in their batting lineup ended up with a modest total and it wasn’t enough to stop the KKR side from chasing down the score. Dan Christian conceded three sixes in a single over and he became the centre of attraction in the social media for having a poor IPL season. Even his wife’s post had received negative comments on social media and “abuse” had undergone.
“I Think People Don’t Realise The Gravity Of What They Say” – Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik was one of the disappointed guys seeing the social media abuse and he mentioned that kindness should be the one prevailing in social media. He also added that people have never been able to understand the depth of pain these memes can create in a player and condemned the trollers for blasting out whatever they come up with.
“I feel sometimes that social media needs to be a kinder place. I think people don’t realise the gravity of what they say, be it memes, videos or just the use of words. It’s a spur of moment thing for them, instinctively what they feel they just put out there,” Dinesh Karthik told on the video.
KKR In Support Of RCB Players
KKR were the first to show their support and love for the RCB players who had been under social abuse. Dan Christian and Glenn Maxwell had been the ones under immense hate on the day and Maxwell had warned the trollers of blocking by people overall by his posts.
KKR posted a video stating the importance of spreading kindness on social media and not spreading hate towards the players
