Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo jokingly stated that he will call his national teammate and friend, Kieron Pollard, to let him know that the trophy gap between them has just increased.

Bravo won his 16th T20 trophy, which is the new record for the most titles as a player. He is one ahead of Pollard, who has collected 15 titles. The 38-year-old Bravo had equalled the record earlier this year when he led St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) trophy.

Now, he has overtaken Pollard, having won the IPL 2021 trophy last night with CSK. “That’s the first thing I’m going to do when I turn on my phone – let Kieron Pollard know this is the 16th. He has some catching up to do,” Bravo said during the celebrations.

Owed this performance to the franchise and fans – Dwayne Bravo

CSK had their worst ever performance in IPL last season when they finished in 7th place. It was the first time in IPL history that they failed to qualify for playoffs. Many experts had also written the team off for this season, but the Yellow Brigade has answered back in style.

After last season was really disappointing. Owed it to the franchise, the fans to come up with a better performance. Don’t get nervous. Have had good performance in different phases of the tournament. Faf and Ruturaj standout for us. To have these two guys scoring over 500 runs together,” Bravo further stated.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis ended in the top two spots for the orange cap, scoring 635 and 633 runs, respectively. The Purple cap was won by RCB’s Harshal Patel, who claimed 32 wickets, equaling Bravo’s all-time IPL record.
