MI vs PBKS: Mumbai Indians (MI) Predicted Playing XI Against Punjab Kings (PBKS)- IPL 2021 Match 42. The defending champions, Mumbai Indians are unlikely to defend the title in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League as they are currently languishing at the seventh position on the points table. They have made the worst possible start to the UAE leg of IPL 2021, having lost three games in a row.

In 10 matches, Mumbai Indians have only managed to secure 4 wins. Another defeat in their next game could dash all their hopes of reaching the playoffs. Poor run from the middle-order continues to haunt them. In pursuit of a 165-run total in their last game against RCB, Rohit Sharma and Co. were bowled out for just 111 runs. Ahead of an important game against Punjab Kings, here’s a look at our predicted playing XI of Mumbai Indians.

Openers: Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock

Both Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock are in solid form with the bat. They have been getting valuable starts but failing to convert those into big scores. Rohit Sharma scored 43 runs off just 28 deliveries in the last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Quinton de Kock scored 24 off 23 deliveries. With the middle order not in the best of form, Rohit and Quinton need to take responsibility on their shoulders and play big knocks on Tuesday.

Middle-order: Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard

Both Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav are enduring a poor run of form. The duo hasn’t been able to get going this season. In the last game against RCB, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan got out for 8 and 9 runs respectively. Both of them are in India’s T20 World Cup squad and therefore it’s unlikely that Rohit would make them warm benches.

The team would be hoping that they return to form in an important game on Tuesday. Kieron Pollard is likely to bat at number five. He has played a few outstanding knocks in the tournament but hasn’t been consistent enough. Ahead of the do-or-die games in the tournament, Kieron Pollard will have a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.

All-rounders: Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya has been one of the biggest flops in IPL 2021. In 10 games, he has only managed to score 121 runs and pick 3 wickets. He has been around for MI for many years now and is a consistent performer for them.

Despite his poor form, the management is likely to back him and persist him in the eleven. Hardik Pandya made his comeback in the last game against RCB. He didn’t roll his arms in that game, which raised doubt over his fitness. He, however, batted and is expected to play on Tuesday as well.

Bowlers: Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult

Rohit Sharma wouldn’t be having any complaints as far as bowling is concerned. All their four prominent bowlers are bowling well at the moment. Jasprit Bumrah has led the attack superbly with Boult and Milne giving good support. Rahul Chahar hasn’t taken a lot of wickets in the last three games but has been economical.
