Former Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra reckoned the years of hard work put in by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, has finally started to pay off. The difference in his batting when compared to the days of old is very evident these days, as per Nehra.

Jadeja was instrumental in CSK’s win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. He contributed with the ball in hand before a stunning cameo at the back end of the innings took his team to a last-ball thrilling victory. Nehra clubbed Jadeja alongside the big hitters like Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard after his knock on Sunday.

With the ball too, he was effective. He picked up an important wicket and gave just 21 runs in four overs. He displayed the same type of bowling which he is known for. And as far as batting is concerned, he has done exceptionally well in the last 2 years.

He hit Prasidh Krishna for big blows to finish the match. We talk of MS Dhoni, Andre Russell, and Kieron Pollard, but even Ravindra Jadeja did the same thing today. He has performed well for CSK and in Tests with the bat. His batting finally coming along nicely,” Nehra stated on Cricbuzz.

It will be interesting to see whether India include Ravindra Jadeja in T20 World Cup – Ashish Nehra

The all-important ICC event, the T20 World Cup, is set to begin on October 17. India’s 15-members squad includes five spinners considering the assistance they will receive in the UAE tracks. Whether Virat Kohli and co. opt to start Ravindra Jadeja over the frontline spinners will be compelling to see, according to Nehra.

It will become interesting to see whether India include Ravindra Jadeja ahead of them or as a third spinner. I would say that in the situations we have seen till now, he would be the first name on the minds of coach Shastri, captain Kohli and mentor Dhoni when it comes to deciding the XI.

If you talk about the Indian team he has been used differently. For the T20 World Cup, India have picked five spinners so it remains to be seen. If there is assistance in the pitch then Jadeja is a no-brainer. But if you have a flat pitch, they might play Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Chahar,” Nehra further added.

Jadeja’s long-time spin partner, Ravichandran Ashwin, has also received a call-up to the white-ball squad after playing his last game in 2017.
